Back in May 1972 I made a binary counter using discrete parts. Then I built the same circuit using a 7473 dual flip flop. The top picture shows all the parts for four flip flops and the chip below that replaces them. I added two counter boards and a telephone dialer to enter the digits and submitted to the local county fair and won Grand Prize!
